Summary

The State of Nature follows the story of Albert, a survivor of a worldwide pandemic of a powerful strain of rabies that turns humans into mindless cannibalistic creatures. Fifteen years after the outbreak, the world is destroyed, 95 percent of humanity has been wiped out, and Albert, who has become a respected bounty hunter for one of the many factions that now control the new world, is given a task. This task involves taking Ana, a woman that has blood that makes her immune to the pathogen. He is accompanied by Chloe, a female bounty hunter.

Begin reading and see Albert try to battle with the ghosts of his past, and deal with the countless threats nature, and the scourge of humanity throw at him and his group. And see what humanity looks like when brought to a state of nature.

A little red pencil embarks on a creative writing adventure in this delightfully illustrated children’s book with “style, humor, and solid writing advice” (Publishers Weekly, starred review).   At the Pencilvania School, all the young pencils are given a writing assignment. With a basket of nouns, Little Red embarks on the storytelling path, discovering the joys of creative writing. But when she gets tangled in a run-on sentence full of descriptive adjectives, she must escape a dangerous encounter with the pencil sharpener, Wolf 3000!   Acclaimed writer Joan Holub and Caldecott Honoree Melissa Sweet team up in this hilarious and exuberant retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. “The artwork—which integrates written text in a variety of lettering styles—fills the pages with a riot of color, shape, movement and design… Every writers’ group should start with this story.” (Kirkus, starred review).  A Kirkus Best Children’s Books of 2013

Animals’ rules of etiquette prove quite different from people’s in this “appealing [and] humorous” picture book (Kirkus Reviews).   Playing in the dirt, staying up all night, and leaving clothes strewn across the floor are not a problem if you’re a wild animal. Dunking food, burping, and splashing—no problem either. Human kids, who are expected to follow rules, rules, rules, will squeal with delight as the pages reveal wild animals getting away with all kinds of outlandish behavior—and will relish “knowing better”!   “This clever, well-executed book will grab children’s attention and make them laugh . . . A charmer [and] a great read-aloud.” —School Library Journal   “Young readers tired of obeying rules may find this silly walk on the wild side of animal behavior just impudent enough to suit their fancy.” —Publishers Weekly   “A witty look at breaking away from rules for a while, with a nod to reality in the end.” —Atlanta Parent (Staff Pick)
