As Christmas Eve settles on the quiet trailer park, everything is as still as a rabbit caught in headlights. That is, until the Christmas Redneck appears on the scene. Dressed in camouflage, missing a few teeth, and chewing some tobacco, the Christmas Redneck comes bearing gifts for good little boy and girl Rednecks everywhere. His sack full of toys is hauled by his flying pickup truck and his eight hound dogs. The only question is: "Have you been a good Redneck this year?" If so, you, too, might see the Christmas Redneck. This delightful story is the newest in Pelican's Night Before Christmas series. Told in the tongue-in-cheek style familiar to fans of the series, this tale will entertain children and parents alike. The descriptive text and vivid illustrations make this book the perfect gift. David Davis is an award-winning political cartoonist with the Madison County Journal (Mississippi). An accomplished writer and artist, Davis is also the creator of "Travels with Grandpaw," an Internet comic strip. He currently resides with his family in Mississippi, deep in the heart of Redneck country. James Rice, widely acclaimed as a leading illustrator of children's books, now has over a half million of his books in print - a record that ranks him among the top authors and illustrators in the nation. “Delightful and charming . . . Deliver[s] a valuable lesson on treating all such creatures with respect, without falling into the trap of being preachy.” —Kiddiespace  A Huntsman Spider in My House features a young girl concerned about the huge unwelcome guest in her room. Rather than reacting by immediately killing the spider, as commonly taught by society, she finds another way: She catches the Huntsman instead, and then releases it outside to let it live and contribute to the ecosystem of Australian fauna. The little girl’s actions show that insects are important, necessary, not so scary, and support the world too.   “The young, nameless female protagonist of Sylvie Ashford’s charming book speaks in rhyme as she explains the habits of Huntsman Spiders to children as well as to the adults that read the book aloud . . . We thoroughly endorse educating young children to have more tolerance for the lower beasts.” —What’s That Bug?   “The story follows her beautifully simplistic childlike thought process as she explores her feelings about it, and the ways in which the spider could be dealt with . . . It leaves you with a deep sense of satisfaction, and provides a practical fear-resolution solution to which kids of all ages can relate.” —Kiddiespace   “Michelle Ray, author of A Huntsman Spider in My House, does a wonderful job weaving a story to teach young children not to be afraid.” —The Education Cafe

A team of intrepid English children set sail for treasure in the Caribbean only to encounter pirates, sharks, and other dangers. It all begins when Peter Duck, an elderly sailor once marooned on an island in the Caribbean, tells a tale to the Swallows (John, Susan, Titty, and Roger Walker) and Amazons (Nancy and Peggy Blackett). It’s a tale of buried treasure and, unfortunately, when the kids set sail to find it, the pirate Jake, captain of the Viper, follows. Across the Atlantic Ocean, through fog, threats from pirate Jake, a hurricane, and an earthquake once they land, the Swallows and Amazons must find the treasure, evade the pirates, and return safely home to England. Friendship, resourcefulness, and sailing, too: Arthur Ransome’s Swallows and Amazons series has stood the test of time. More than just great stories, each one celebrates independence and initiative with a colorful, large cast of characters. Peter Duck (originally published in 1932) is the third title in the Swallows and Amazons series, books for children or grownups, anyone captivated by a world of adventure and imagination.

This is the story of two very imaginative little boys and their resistance to cleaning up their toys. Two little boys are about to go out for the day to the swimming pool as a treat. But before they can go, they must tidy up all their toys - which are all over the house - as requested by their Mummy. The boys consider this a mission! The boys attempt to clean up their toys in various parts of the house while making all sorts of excuses to Mummy to leave the toys where they are. The boys are easily side-tracked when attempting to clean up each room, as they find themselves playing with their toys again, their imaginations taking over. They find themselves driving trains, defending castles from ogres, climbing high mountains, flying spaceships, catching sea serpents and meeting prehistoric dinosaurs. All while trying to clean up their toys! Written by Jason Tucker and stunningly illustrated by Nick Roberts, Operation Clean Up Day is a fantastic journey through the imagination of two children, who can turn a simple set of toys into an entire fantasy world, whilst teaching children the valuable lesson of tidying up their toys after playtime!
