Summary

In the United Kingdom and Ireland, “coarse fishing” is used to refer to angling for coarse fish, which are freshwater fish that are rather than game fish. All Freshwater game fish are salmonids (particularly salmon, trout and char), and therefore coarse fish are freshwater fish that are not salmonids. This vintage book contains a complete guide to angling for these fish, with chapters on everything from equipment and preparation to habit, habitat, and beyond. “Coarse Fishing” will appeal to those with a practical interest in this type of angling, and it would make for a fantastic addition to collections of angling literature. Contents include: “A Matter for the Cook”, “Gear”, “The Fish”, “The Weir-Pool”, “Roach”, “A Morning with the Dace”, “Carp and Tench”, “Bream”, “Chub in Summer and Winter”, “The Golden Fish”, “Shreds and Patches”, “Eels", "Pike”, “Odds and Ends”, etc. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in a modern, high-quality edition complete with a specially commissioned new introduction on the history of fishing.

Black people are dying everywhere we turn,in the faces we see and the headlines we read, and we feel emotional pain, but we don't know how to tackle it—it's time to recognize it and work through our trauma.Terrie had made it: she had launched her own public relations company with such clients as Eddie Murphy and Johnnie Cochran. Yet she was in constant pain, waking up in terror, overeating in search of relief. For thirty years she kept on her game face of success, exhausting herself daily to satisfy her clients' needs while neglecting her own. When she finally collapsed, she had no clue what was wrong or if there was a way out.She learned her problem had a name—depression—and that many suffered from it, limping through their days, hiding their hurt. As she healed, her mission became clear: break the silence of this crippling taboo and help those who suffer, especially in the black community.Black Pain identifies emotional pain—which uniquely and profoundly affects the black experience—as the root of lashing out through desperate acts of crime, violence, drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders, workaholism, and addiction to shopping, gambling, and sex. Few realize these destructive acts are symptoms of our inner sorrow. In Black Pain, Terrie has inspired the famous and the ordinary to speak out and mental health professionals to offer solutions. The book is a mirror turned on you. Do you see yourself and your loved ones here? Do the descriptions of how the pain looks, feels, and sounds seem far too familiar? Now you can do something about it. The help the community needs is here: a clear explanation of our troubles and a guide to finding relief through faith, therapy, diet, and exercise, as well as through building a supportive network and eliminating toxic people.Black Pain encourages us to face the truth about the issue that plunges our spirits into darkness, so that we can step into the healing light. You are not on the ledge alone.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a summary, analysis and review of the book and not the original book. Jenny Offill's third novel follows the thoughts of librian Lizzie Benson as she deals with raising a family, helping her brother overcome addiction, and preparing for the end of the world. In Offill's signature style of disjointed autofiction, she takes the reader on a journey through the mind of a woman obsessed with doomsday preparation in a world ever threatened by climate change and divisive politics. What Does this Start Publishing Notes' Summary, Analysis, and Review Include? Summary of the original book Easily digestible takeaways distilling the main themes A guide to the key characters throughout the book Discussion of the external forces driving Offill's work In-depth Editorial Review & Analysis Background on Jenny Offill About the Original Book: Weather is an unconventional novel that uses its broken, disparate structure to capture the current American zeitgeist in a spectacular way. Despite its anxiety-driven narrative about the end of the world (whether due to climate change or the rapture), the book is quite humorous as Lizzie relays quick quips and anecdotes throughout, delving often into the farcical and absurd. It is both darkly funny and sardonic as well as absurdly light at other times. A must-read for anyone who has felt lost or disconnected in the last few years of political turmoil, Offill delves into not only the broader threat of climate change, but life, family, privilege, religion, and technology, among other things. DISCLAIMER: This book is intended as a companion to, not a replacement for, Weather.
