Summary

Barney thinks his life is under control. His life has other ideas.

Barney Conroy is on a roll. He's a business owner, a father, and a fiancé, and he only has to see his therapist once a week. The transition from Old Barney to New Barney is almost complete. All he needs to do now is win a wild card entry to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and then make it to his wedding day unscathed.

But when Barney's festival entry goes viral, his estranged father of nearly thirty years resurfaces. He also has to deal with a ruthless online troll, the shock return from Latin America of his emotionally volatile flatmate, a potential new stepdad for his daughter, and a therapist out of cell range. This is not how you remain unscathed!

As the biggest day of his life fast approaches, Barney knows he must conquer the challenges that threaten to return him to the man he used to be . . . but old habits can be hard to break. And old memories hard to forget.

The third book in The Barney Conroy Series, The Best Version of Me is a hilarious and moving novel about love, forgiveness, and facing your past, present, and future - sometimes all at once.
Available since: 09/04/2019.

National Book Award Finalist The breakout novel from a writer of extraordinary talent: In the wake of a devastating terrorist attack, one man struggles to make sense of his world, even as the world tries to make use of himBrian Remy has no idea how he got here. It’s been only five days since terrorists attacked his city, and Remy is experiencing gaps in his life—as if he were a stone being skipped across water. He has a self-inflicted gunshot wound that he doesn’t remember inflicting. His son wears a black armband and refuses to acknowledge that Remy is still alive. He seems to be going blind. He has a beautiful new girlfriend whose name he doesn’t know. And his old partner in the police department, who may well be the only person crazier than Remy, has just gotten his picture on a box of First Responder cereal. And these are the good things in Brian Remy’s life. While smoke still hangs over the city, Remy is recruited by a mysterious government agency that is assigned to gather all of the paper that was scattered in the attacks. As he slowly begins to realize that he’s working for a shadowy intelligence operation, Remy stumbles across a dangerous plot, and with the world threatening to boil over in violence and betrayal, he realizes that he’s got to track down the most elusive target of them all—himself. And the only way to do that is to return to that place where everything started falling apart. In the tradition of Catch-22, The Manchurian Candidate, and the novels of Ian McEwan, comes this extraordinary story of searing humor and sublime horror, of blindness, bewilderment, and that achingly familiar feeling that the world has suddenly stopped making sense.

A fun, fast-paced, humorous mystery about a brainy, relatable heroine, a government experiment gone wrong, and the zany world of T.O.P.S.E.C.R.E.T. espionage…
My name is Julie Richardson, and if you'd told me one week ago that I'd be racing through the sewers of Paris in search of a golden thumb drive to stop an Evil Villain from destroying the world, I'd have thought you were describing some off-brand James Bond film.
Unfortunately for me, I had to go and *accidentally* trigger a dangerous government experiment that turned me into the most sought-after source of classified intel on the planet. I used to be worried about my GPA and graduating college at the top of my class. Now, I've got bad guys chasing after me, so-called "good guys" trying to experiment on me, and Evil Villains threatening to cut out my brain! The good news is, there's a chance I could get my normal life back. The bad news is that chance is slim to none.
Forced to go on a life-threatening government mission? Check.
Accompanied by the world's most handsome/self-absorbed spy? Check.
    A plan? Not even close.
    Welcome to T.O.P.S.E.C.R.E.T.
