Summary

Hi! My name is Avery McShane. I live smack dab in the middle of nowhere in Venezuela. My best friends are Billy, Todd and my dog, Mati.

Our adventures started when the bad guy Pablo Malo caught us trespassing and shot Todd in the butt with his shotgun full of rock salt . . . From then on everything got a mite out of control! Things got blown up, folks got kidnapped and there was a heckuva lot more gunplay - just like in my favourite western movies.

Looking back, it was a pretty cool adventure, so that's why I've told the story. I really hope you like it!
Available since: 03/01/2013.

Award-winning author/illustrator James Rice’s picture book Cowboy Night Before Christmas sets the classic holiday story in the southwest.   “’Twas a cold Christmas eve on the Southwestern plain,” and two lonely cowboys are shivering from the cold. A knock at the door of their sod shanty rouses them, and they admit a fat little old man with frost on his whiskers and hat.   The old man had been moving a load across the country when his team fled north to escape the panhandle cold. Now he must find a new team to help him finish his rounds.   In this twist on the classic tale, the two cowboys help the mysterious man round up eight replacement longhorns. Together they hitch the cattle up to the odd gent’s wagon and see him on his way. The two cowboys trudge back to their shanty, where they discover the gifts the stranger has left them.  Cowboy Night Before Christmas features whimsical illustrations from James Rice, widely acclaimed as one of the leading author/illustrators of American juvenile fiction. His fifty-plus children’s titles total more than a million and a half copies in print; and his Cajun Night Before Christmas has become a seasonal classic.   Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

The first in the hilarious series from Roald Dahl Funny Prize winning author Philip Ardagh and illustrator of The Gruffalo, Axel Scheffler.
Mr and Mrs Grunt, who are neither clean nor clever, live with their adopted in fact, abducted son, Sunny, in a donkey-drawn caravan somewhere or other at some time that is a bit like now but not exactly now. Sunny is an odd-looking boy, what with his left ear being higher than his right ear and that kind of sticky-up hair which NEVER goes flat, even if you massage glue into it and then jump on it. Together the unusual family find themselves in frankly improbable but very funny adventures involving bendy railings, double-barrelled shotguns, full-fat yoghurt and, always, a beard of bees.
