Summary

What would happen if the water ran out?Ex-Marine Martin Makepeace only learned the truth of the maxim that you don’t know what you have until you lose it, the day his wife walked out on him with their two kids. Now, the social worker does his best to take care of those who need it most. But good deeds mean nothing when the water just . . . disappears. It hasn’t rained for months, and now, in the height of summer, the taps run dry. And not, as they first suspect, because of a burst water main. In the deprived areas where Martin works, the water’s been intentionally cut off. And it’s his job, he discovers, to tell the families he cares for not to panic.Martin soon has more problems than lack of water. His daughter is sick with fever. And as riots over bottled water start, Martin’s teenage son is framed, and arrested, for a terrible crime. Soon Martin is left with no choice but to take drastic action to save his family, while corrupt politicians try and use the situation to their advantage, with calamitous results . . .

When a brute of a man tramples an innocent girl, apparently out of spite, two bystanders catch the fellow and force him to pay reparations to the girl's family. The brute's name is Edward Hyde. A respected lawyer, Utterson, hears this story and begins to unravel the seemingly manic behavior of his best friend, Dr. Henry Jekyll, and his connection with Hyde. Several months earlier, Utterson had drawn up an inexplicable will for the doctor naming Hyde as his heir in the event that he disappears. Fearing his friend has been blackmailed into this arrangement, Utterson probes deeper into both Jekyll and his unlikely protégé. He is increasingly unnerved at each new revelation. In a forerunner of psychological dramas to come, Robert Louis Stevenson uses Hyde to show that we are both repulsed and attracted to the darker side of life, particularly when we can experience it in anonymity.

Water. H2O. Adams Ale. An essential for life. Without it life is impossible. Was it always that way? In this volume of stories, water becomes the landscape and narrative, a character more deadly and perhaps more aware of its power than us mere mortals. We are beguiled by its sight. Whether softly breaking waves on a sandy beach or a thunderous storm engulfing the cliff face. But also in other forms; as lakes and lagoons. Water is everywhere and where there is water is the shadow of menace.

WKBA news in Chicago is reeling. Their ratings are the lowest in town, and company morale has plummeted. At the end of their ropes, five women band together to correct injustices and hopefully shoot WKBA up the ratings chart. Their ideas are inventive, and their convictions are infectious, but they’ll need to crack the good-old-boys network before they ever get a chance to prove themselves. Through Yolanda Joe’s sharp observations about this cutthroat industry, the cameras are reversed and the inequalities of big-time television news are exposed. An all-star cast of Recorded Books narrators helps each character shine, bringing the story completely to life.

One awesome rollercoaster ride packed with a plethora of suspense, a supremely EVIL spirit, and one flawed but irresistible to love hero! A defining gamechanger for not only the fiction category, but for MULTIPLE genres. In short, if you're an avid reader...you NEED THIS BOOK! ~ Larry Roy

    AUTHOR'S NOTE:
The big question for existing fans of The Celestial Wars has to be, why revise a series already averaging 4.5 stars on Amazon, Audible, and Goodreads?
The truth is my narrator and I fell in love with these stories. After three years and six novels, we are that much better at our respective crafts, so we put in the extra effort (paragraph by paragraph) to ensure The Celestial Wars withstands the test of time.
Hope you enjoy! ~ John Campbell and Dan Johnson

A psychological thriller that pits a community against a man, and that man against himself. Joseph Lee lost his wife, the love of his life. She was slain in their home, right under his nose. As if the grief weren’t enough, Lee was also blamed for her murder. At the end of the day, the detectives didn’t have any proof that Lee was the murderer, but that didn’t stop the community from shunning him or his friends and family from cutting him out of their lives. They didn’t need proof, they said. Left to stew in his own self-loathing, a miserable existence of solitude and narcotics, Lee is alone with his regrets and his remorse. But his life is about to change—there is hope yet for this hopeless man. A beautiful woman who looks uncannily like his deceased wife moves into the vacant house across the road, sparking something in Joseph Lee that he thought was long dead. But after the light at the end of the tunnel, there is even more darkness for Lee. This beautiful lookalike, and the house she now calls home, are hiding terrible secrets that will unravel everything Lee thought he knew about himself, his neighbors, and his deceased wife.
