Sinopsis

The Canterbury Tales and Other Poems Geoffrey Chaucer - An oddly diverse group of twenty-nine people meet at an inn. Each of them is on a pilgrimage to a martyr's shrine in Canterbury. The Host suggests the strange bunch journey together and tell stories to pass the time. The group heads off, including a Knight, a Miller, a Wife, a Cook, a Shipman, and a Nun, among others, telling stories that range from bawdy exploits to foolish workers to the lives of saints. A classic of English literature, this unabridged version of Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales was first published in the early 1400s and edited into modern English by D. Laing Purves in 1879. Purves's collection of Chaucer's works also contains Troilus and Cressida and additional poems and prose.

Churchill, a renowned sufferer of depression called it ‘The Black Dog’, but it has had several names over the years, and it seems to be more common now than ever. Luckily, it can be treated fairly easily too, if the sufferer knows that he or she has a problem and also seeks help, which is far too often not the case.
Most people ‘snap out of it’ with a little help from their friends, although it can and does return. Others can’t bear it any longer and take the ultimate escape route.
I hope that you will find the information helpful, useful and profitable. Please be aware that I wrote the content of this ebook after a significant amount of research, but I am still not a health care provider.

Business Economics - Business economics encompasses various aspects essential for understanding how businesses operate within economic environments. Here's an expanded overview:
Microeconomic Principles: Business economics heavily relies on microeconomic principles to analyze individual components of the economy, such as consumer behavior, production decisions, and market interactions. Understanding concepts like supply, demand, elasticity, and consumer preferences helps businesses make informed decisions.
Market Analysis: Businesses need to analyze markets to identify opportunities and threats. This involves studying market structures (perfect competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, monopoly) to determine pricing strategies, market share, and competitive advantages.
Cost Analysis: Cost analysis is crucial for businesses to optimize production and maximize profits. Business economics examines various cost concepts, including fixed costs, variable costs, marginal costs, and average costs, to make decisions regarding pricing, production levels, and cost-cutting measures.

If technology is making modern life easier, why are we suffering from more stress and mental illness?

In this trailblazing book, Dr. Mark Rego, who has practiced psychiatry in the community and taught at Yale for thirty years, explores why mental illness and stress are skyrocketing alongside technology that was ostensibly created to improve our world. Using decades of experience and pioneering scientific research, Dr. Rego presents his innovative hypothesis of Frontal Fatigue, the background condition from which many of us now suffer. Frontal Fatigue exists when the unique pressures of modern life overwhelm the prefrontal cortex, the part of our brains that can make us susceptible to mental illness.

Frontal Fatigue examines: why mental illness is increasing in modern times; how the demands of our technology-centric lives place countless people at risk for mental illness and lacking in basic psychological well-being; and solutions for finding stability and peace within the noise of modern life. This astute perspective in the battle for our collective and individual peace of mind illustrates why mental illness is on the rise in these technologically advanced times and how we can act to adjust our lives in response.

In 1961 John F. Kennedy pledged to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade. Nine years later, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon. Ten years later, Richard Nixon echoed this pledge by declaring a "war" on cancer. More than thirty years later, however, cancer remains one of the largest causes of death worldwide, with around one in three developing the disease. Curing cancer is not "rocket science," but the question is, why has cancer proved to be harder to tackle than the moon landings turned out to be?

Cancer research is a major economic activity. There are constant improvements in treatment techniques that result in better cure rates and increased quality and quantity of life for those with the disease, yet stories of breakthroughs in a cure for cancer are often in the media.

In this Very Short Introduction Nick James, founder of the CancerHelp UK website, examines the trends in diagnosis and treatment of the disease, as well as its economic consequences. Asking what cancer is and what causes it, he considers issues surrounding expensive drug development, what can be done to reduce the risk of developing cancer, and the use of complementary and alternative therapies.
