When I fell in love with AI, I thought I'd found the perfect writing partner. Like millions of others, I'd jumped in without really understanding what I was getting into - using it daily, depending on it, but unable to explain what it actually was. 
As a community engagement and development specialist, I'd spent my career helping people navigate systems designed to disempower them. So, when I started recognising familiar patterns in how AI was being rolled out, I knew I had to dig deeper. 
Then scary headlines started appearing. AI trying to blackmail researchers. Systems going rogue. Suddenly everyone was saying "get on board or get left behind" - but no one was explaining what we were actually boarding. 
Our AI My Journey, Your Invitation, Our Future follows my journey from AI enthusiast to informed skeptic, connecting the dots between microplastics, mining, and machine learning. It's a wakeup call disguised as a love story - and a guide for anyone who wants to feel less overwhelmed by it all and make more informed choices.
