In public life for half a century, my image and reputation have had more ups and downs than the Cyclone roller coaster at Coney Island. I have been called savior and sinner, fool and wise man, crusader and exploiter, hot head and dope. I am routinely scorned, admired, beloved, and belittled. The opinions are usually based on when they tuned in. Were you around for my early days as a crusading local newsman? Did you waste an evening inside Al Capone's empty vault? Were you watching when the bombs dropped in Afghanistan or Iraq, or did you tune into the raucous talk show when my nose got broken in the best television studio brawl ever caught on tape?
Since the attacks of September 11, 2001, and my employment by the conservative rabble-rousers of Fox News, and, more recently, with the coming of the Age of Trump, my professional life has been even more difficult to define. How could a sincerely progressive native-born Jew Rican New Yorker like me ever work for an outfit better suited to the vibes of Orange County, California, the Dixie, Appalachia, or the Mountain West? How could I not condemn and obstruct a wrecking ball like Donald Trump?
Over five decades, I have met most of the era's good and bad guys, from Ronald Reagan to Charles Manson, Fidel Castro to Yasser Arafat, and Muhammad Ali to John Lennon. Two figure heavily in this book, both longtime friends. Roger Ailes is the disgraced yet undeniably brilliant creator of Fox News. Donald Trump, once a flamboyant playboy, billionaire businessman, is now 45th President of the United States.
Now at the vigorous twilight of my career, I have nothing left to prove, and time has both enlightened and humbled me. In this book, I speak frankly about my failures and successes, my humiliations and triumphs. Throughout my career, I've done my best to provide you with groundbreaking journalism and great entertainment. In this book, I've tried to provide both . . . and a few life lessons, as well.
    Sincerely,
    Geraldo Rivera

This program is read by the author and a full cast: Alan Ada, Cynthia Adler, Bob Balaban, Christine Baranski, Kathy Bates, Ellen Burstyn, Glenn Close, Katie Couric, John Henry Cox, Blythe Danner, Lena Dunham, Edie Falco, Tovah Feldshuh, Diane Von Furstenberg, Whoopi Goldberg, Gayle King, Sandra Lee, Diane Lane, Judith Light, Jenna Lyons, Audra McDonald, Janet Mock, Sheila Nevins, Rosie O'Donnell, Jean Richards, RuPaul, Liz Smith, Lesley Stahl, Gloria Steinem, Martha Stewart, Meryl Streep, Marlo Thomas, Lily Tomlin, and Gloria Vanderbilt. An astonishingly frank, funny, poignant book for any woman who wishes they had someone who would say to them, "This happened to me, learn from my mistakes and my successes. Because you don't get smarter as you get older, you get braver."Sheila Nevins is the best friend you never knew you had. She is your discreet confidante you can tell any secret to, your sage mentor at work who helps you navigate the often uneven playing field, your wise sister who has "been there, done that," your hysterical girlfriend whose stories about men will make laugh until you cry. Sheila Nevins is the one person who always tells it like it is. In You Don't Look Your Age, the famed documentary producer (as President of HBO Documentary Films for over 30 years, Nevins has rightfully been credited with creating the documentary rebirth) finally steps out from behind the camera and takes her place front and center. In these pages you will read about the real life challenges of being a woman in a man's world, what it means to be a working mother, what it's like to be an older woman in a youth-obsessed culture, the sometimes changing, often sweet truth about marriages, what being a feminist really means, and that you are in good company if your adult children don't return your phone calls. So come, sit down, make yourself comfortable, (and for some of you, don't forget the damn reading glasses). You're in for a treat.

Seed magazine brings together a unique gathering of prominent scientists, artists, novelists, philosophers and other thinkers who are tearing down the wall between science and culture. We are on the cusp of a twenty-first-century scientific renaissance. Science is driving our culture and conversation unlike ever before, transforming the social, political, economic, aesthetic, and intellectual landscape of our time. Today, science is culture. As global issues—like energy and health—become increasingly interconnected, and as our curiosities—like how the mind works or why the universe is expanding—become more complex, we need a new way of looking at the world that blurs the lines between scientific disciplines and the borders between the sciences and the arts and humanities. In this spirit, the award-winning science magazine Seed has paired scientists with nonscientists to explore ideas of common interest to us all. This book is the result of these illuminating Seed Salon conversations, edited and with an introduction by Seed founder and editor in chief Adam Bly. Science Is Culture includes:E. O. Calderdale has gone down in the annals of crime in England as the birthplace of Christie of Rillington Place, and as the haunt of the Yorkshire Ripper. But there is much more in the criminal history of the Halifax area to interest the reader with a taste for true crime. As a town with a shifting population of labour for the new mills of the Industrial Revolution, Halifax in the nineteenth century was a focus for urban disorder and lawbreaking. This book tells some of the tales from this period of social history, and from earlier times, when feuds and brutal punishment for crime were the order of the day. Here are the accounts of murders within the family, but also sad suicides and tragic assaults, public riots and violent vendettas. Every northern town has its darkunderbelly beneath the visible civic progress and commercial achievements Halifax and the cluster of towns nearby have had plenty of this nasty side of history, and these pages recount some of the most heinous and vicious crimes recorded between the anarchy of the Middle Ages and the dark twentieth century. The author, a graduate of Leeds University, is a social historian with a special interest in the chronicles of law and crime in the north. He has been a lecturer at the University of Huddersfield and has edited a number of books on literature and history with a regional context. He is currently working on Unsolved Yorkshire Murders, also published by Wharncliffe Books. He is planning to teach a course on the writing of crime in local history at the University of Nottingham.

January 1960. Las Vegas is at its smooth, cool peak. The Strip is a jet-age theme park, and the greatest singer in the history of American popular music summons a group of friends there to make a movie. One is an insouciant singer of Italian songs, ex-partner to the most popular film comedian of the day. One is a short, black, Jewish, one-eyed, singing, dancing wonder. One is an upper-crust British pretty boy turned degenerate B-movie star actor, brother-in-law to an ascendant politician. And one is a stiff-shouldered comic with the quintessential Borscht Belt emcee's knack for needling one-liners. The architectonically sleek marquee of the Sands Hotel announces their presence simply by listing their names: Frank Sinatra. Dean Martin. Sammy Davis, Jr. Peter Lawford. Joey Bishop. They call themselves The Clan. But to an awed world, they are known as The Rat Pack.

They had it all. Fame. Gorgeous women. A fabulous playground of a city and all the money in the world. The backing of fearsome crime lords and the blessing of the President of the United States. But the dark side - over the thin line between pleasure and debauchery, between swinging self-confidence and brutal arrogance - took its toll. In four years, their great ride was over, and showbiz was never the same.
