Summary

Case studies and interviews will include women of diverse races, ages, backgrounds, and industries -- all sharing what it means to be their own version of a successful leader

Anula Jayasuriya, Silicon Valley life sciences venture capitalist
Dr. Gabriela Burlacu, industrial organizational psychologist with SAP SuccessFactors
Nicole Sahin, CEO of Globalization Partners
Miriam Christof, Principal and founder at JustJump Marketing
Pat Milligan, Global Leader, Multinational Client Group & When Women Thrive
Surbhi Sarna, Founder of nVision, a tech company in the underserved women's health sector

A decade ago, Dr. Patti Fletcher delved into this idea in her doctoral research: what did successful business women actually do to succeed? She could have focused on female CEOs and similar executives, but she wanted to go straight to the top: she conducted in-depth interviews with women on boards of directors of large, publicly traded companies in the highly competitive and traditionally male-dominated technology and healthcare industries
Dr. Patti Fletcher is regularly invited onto SAP stages (both live and digitally) multiple times a year to present on issues of women's equity in tech and in technology-intensive industries
Partnership with SAP to promote the book in campaigns that support both corporate themes and events. Examples of events include, but are not limited to, SAP events (e.g., SAPPHIRE), regional SAP events (e.g., SuccessConnect in the Americas or EMEA), and country events (e.g., North America VIP tours and roadshows, as well as external events such as Mobile World Congress).

Build an organization that is growth-minded, values-based, and innovative using the six steps to “responsible impact.”

At age 16, Michael ‘Piecez’ Prosserman, a professional b-boy (breakdancer), completed a school project that would grow to become a hip-hop-inspired mental health charity with global reach. Through a process of continuous discovery and reflection, Prosserman and his team grew UNITY to the point where it benefitted over a quarter of a million young people. In Building Unity, Prosserman breaks down the six steps to discovering “responsible impact” and building an organization that is growth-minded, values-based, and reflective of the needs of its community. Using stories of his own evolution, learning, and growth as a leader over 15 years, Prosserman parallels the creativity found in breakdancing with the innovation needed to build a sustainable non-profit.

Six steps to discovering “responsible impact”:

Spark is the inspiration, the big “why,” the motivation to wake up and do something.
Build is the testing ground to clarify ideas, understand community needs, and challenge assumptions.
Trust involves building the culture of your organization, leading by example, and hiring people with dreams. Trust sets the stage for growth by empowering awesome people.
Grow is about finding the right size for your organization to create a responsible impact.
Evolve is knowing when to step back so others can step forward by building a succession plan that leaves your organization in good hands.
Re-Ignite is building from past experience and lighting the next spark within yourself.

Steering clear of advice column "should"s and preachy "everyone must"s, The Muesli Bar is an engaging piece of writing, fit for overwhelmed minds of young entrepreneurs. It is a peek into the life of businessman, a quick look at the author’s personal experiences, and a long hard look at perspectives and attitudes that chase happiness and fulfillment instead of the illusion of success.

The Muesli Bar is a monologue one read short of turning into a dialogue with enthusiastic beginners, and forever fervent creators. Infused with humor both dry and brittle, the book is an energy bar consisting of encouraging analogies, hard facts, and the bitter truth wrapped in a good laugh. It walks the reader through the first milestones of business while snacking on food for thought. It is an honest conversation rooted in the author’s philosophy: "This is my way. Take a look; it might help you find your own!"An Author's Republic audio production.

    Page Fox

This is a remarkable book. Page Fox seemed to have been an extraordinarily talented, knowledgeable, courageous, intelligent, observant, insightful, inventive confident and independent woman who was obviously very well and broadly educated and yet experienced in grinding out a living for herself. She seemed to be able to combine the killer instincts of an entrepreneur with the inventive talents of a Thomas Edison, and deliver the results in this entertaining, humorous and eloquently written book. Its packed with over 300 of her own inventions and numerous shrewd observations and sagacious marketing and investment advice over an astonishingly broad range of topics.

She appears driven to seek success by the path of long, hard and tedious effort in whatever works best and always with a financial objective in mind. She shows how to create opportunities based on her observations of the latest trends and then how to ruthlessly execute them, and how to always be on the lookout to perceive and seize an advantage.

it is surprizing just how many of her ideas have been prophetic and how many have still to be exploited. She forecast many tools and gadgets that are in common use today and even thought of the pedometer. Were she alive today she would be inventing apps for cells by the dozen.

You will also be surprized to find detailed recipes for manufacturing the “quack” cures spruiked openly in her time and to hear her recommendations to grow opium crops, mine for asbestos, kill whales for their oil, beavers for their fur, and elephants for their ivory. How times change.
