Abbess Hild of Whitby was an extraordinary woman living in extraordinary times. In this exquisite translation of the #1 Danish bestselling novel Hildas sang, we are drawn into a world of dark dealings, powerful patriarchy and religious wrangling.

In the political and religious upheavals of the seventh-century British Isles, tensions between the Danish-German invaders and native Celts mirror power struggles masquerading as religious struggles that reverberate internationally today. In The Song of Hild we are brought face-to-face with the political manoeuvres of conflicting religions, the building of a double monastery, and the power exercised by the Church of Rome.

This is a gritty, powerful story about the prominent role women played in the spread of Christianity in seventh-century Britain.

“a bestseller of great literary quality”
Ekstra Bladet (from a review of the original Danish edition)

Anne Dodge, raised by her old-money father in a small Rhode Island coastal town, has always been told that her Portuguese mother abandoned them when she was six. Now home from college, Anne’s ambitions to become a boat builder are complicated by her father’s plan to reopen the family mill. But then Anne learns that she has a half- sister, Maria Cristina—and when Maria Cristina comes to live with Anne and her father, ugly secrets rise to the surface, threatening the fate of the entire family.   Set on the New England coast at a time when jazz was the rage, Prohibition was ending, and gender expectations were severe and stifling, Daughter of Providence is a gripping story of loss and rediscovery in the tradition of Richard Russo and Annie Proulx.

"I pray to God that we will one day return America to her glorious roots of freedom, faith, and family. Yes, this book is about the America that once was, and the America that could be againif you have the will to stand and fight against the Enemy Within." Michael Savage's powerful, unmatched mix of razorsharp wit and explosive sociopolitical commentary has made him into a cultural phenomenon, becoming not only one of America's most popular radio talk show hosts, but also a best selling author. And in this, his followup to the Savage Nation, Savage takes up where he left off, beating back the tentacles of today's everexpanding liberalism, which even now threatens to creep in, corrupt, and ultimately destroy our most cherished institutions.
