Summary

When Jeff, a specialist in black operations, learns that his brother had died while in police custody in Yemen, he flies in looking for answers. However, he soon finds himself involved in a plot to assassinate the self-proclaimed President of Yemen. By doing so, it would not only revenge his brother's death but possibly save the country, as well as a prevent a potential threat to world peace. His means of carrying out this task are far from the usual method of a snipers rifle or a bomb. Instead, by using his skills to adapt innocent toys, although this might seem quite a novel approach, prove both deadly and highly efficient.

The lives of six female superheroes and the girlfriends of superheroes. A ferocious riff on women in superhero comics. From the New York Times bestselling author Catherynne Valente comes a series of linked stories from the points of view of the wives and girlfriends of superheroes, female heroes, and anyone who's ever been "refrigerated": comic book women who are killed, raped, brainwashed, driven mad, disabled, or had their powers taken so that a male superhero's storyline will progress. In an entirely new and original superhero universe, Valente subversively explores these ideas and themes in the superhero genre, treating them with the same love, gravity, and humor as her fairy tales. After all, superheroes are our new fairy tales and these six women have their own stories to share.

"Another floater surfaced in the Rio Grande last night. It was the headline story on the all-news radio station I listen to on the way to work. Authorities on either side pull twenty to thirty bodies out of the Rio each year, some accidental drownings, some deliberate. What made this one unusual was the fact that he had identification -- and money."
Human smuggling constitutes one of the less savory aspects of Brady Investigation's case load. Jack Brady, former SEAL and current PI in El Paso, Texas, would rather not get involved, but he's always been a sucker for a sob-story.

Award-winning novelist Casey Plett (Little Fish) returns with a poignant suite of stories that center transgender women.

Casey Plett’s 2018 novel Little Fish won a Lambda Literary Award, the Firecracker Award for Fiction, and the Amazon First Novel Award. Her latest work, A Dream of a Woman, is her first book of short stories since her seminal 2014 collection A Safe Girl to Love. Centering transgender women seeking stable, adult lives, A Dream of a Woman finds quiet truths in prairie high-rises and New York warehouses, in freezing Canadian winters and drizzly Oregon days.

In “Hazel and Christopher,” two childhood friends reconnect as adults after one of them has transitioned. In “Perfect Places,” a woman grapples with undesirability as she navigates fetish play with a man. In “Couldn't Hear You Talk Anymore,” the narrator reflects on her tumultuous life and what might have been as she recalls tender moments with another trans woman.

An ethereal meditation on partnership, sex, addiction, romance, groundedness, and love, the stories in A Dream of a Woman buzz with quiet intensity and the intimate complexities of being human.

Falling into Forever is the story of a young woman with a unique ability...
She can see people's entire lives in a flash when she makes direct eye contact with them.
Things get even weirder when she comes face to face with an old man with the same mysterious ability. To her bewilderment, the man isn't a stranger at all.
Together, they fall into a seemingly endless loop of lifetimes before settling in an infinitely blissful, spiritual realm. But they choose not to stay...
The narrative mimics her ability, creating an interplay of multiple layers within the story. As a reader, you become immersed in her experiences, the same way she sees glimpses of other people's lives.
Falling into Forever is the adventure of, not one, but multiple lifetimes.
