Summary

It’s 1931 and British diplomat William Graves and his wife, Amelia, are flung headfirst into the enticing, neon-lit streets of Shanghai. As Will helps to maintain the fragile peace between China and Japan, Amelia, alone in a foreign city, seeks solace with a Russian ballet troupe that are more than they seem. Whispers of protest, revolt, even war, buzz through the city as Will is tasked with rooting out Communist propaganda that could push tensions over the edge into war. But the city’s streets hold other intoxicating allures. Will falls into a deep obsession with Feifei, a beautiful silent film star, who is desperate to escape the volatile city and sees Will as her only chance at freedom. As Amelia starts to sense Will’s betrayal and the personal and the political begin to blur, will they lose themselves in the electric shadows of Shanghai?

In the northern outreaches of the Canadian wilderness, it was understood that the Hudson Bay Company governed all trading, and one factor named Galen Albret took his position seriously. Free traders, or those who dared try to do their trading outside of the Company, found themselves having to face Galen Albret and his methods of dealing with them. One or two offenses he might tolerate, but for those who repeatedly refuse to acknowledge his warning out, he would send them on “La Longue Traverse” through the wilderness without supplies, and from which they seldom returned.Ned Trent was one such free trader who defied both the Company and Galen Albret. The defining difference between Ned and the other free traders however, was his youth, energy, and good looks, which the Factor’s daughter did not fail to recognize. What follows the initial confrontations between Ned, Galen Albret, and his daughter Virginia makes for a thrilling tale of adventure, daring, survival, and romance.Conjuror’s House was twice made into silent films titled “The Call of the North”, the first being Cecil B. DeMille’s first film in which he received solo directorial credit, and the second starring Noah Beery and Jack Holt (whose face was the basis for the face of Dick Tracy). (Summary by Roger Melin)

Dear diary, despite the war raging around me, I find I can’t stop thinking about the American officer, Sergeant Dale Johnson. I’ve never known anyone as brave, kind and handsome! But I promised myself I wouldn’t care this much about a man again, especially when he could be transferred at any time. Yet that only makes me want to relish our time together. Now fighting my heart feels like the biggest battle . . .

But her arrow misses its mark and Jasper FitzHugh vows that although they are enemies now, one day they will be lovers.   For ten years, Jasper fought in the long shadow of his warrior brother, Rand, who claimed this remote corner of northern Wales for England and crowned himself lord of Rosecliffe Castle. Now Jasper must safeguard Rand’s wife and children and find a way to soothe the restlessness in his soul. His near-fatal encounter with the wild creature from his childhood—now a ravishing beauty bent on avenging her Welsh brethren—only fuels his hunger to possess her.   When circumstances and a dangerous enemy conspire to make Rhonwen Jasper’s prisoner, passion flares hotly between captive and captor, drawing them to a destiny neither could ever have imagined.  The Knight of Rosecliffe is the 2nd book in the Rosecliffe Trilogy, but you may enjoy reading the series in any order.

The USA Today–bestselling author’s French Revolution trilogy reaches a stunning finale with “a glorious, wonderful book!” (Mary Balogh).   At sixteen, high-born Lady Emily had been found alone with Leon Devereux and was summarily forced to wed the wild, notoriously seductive rake. Now, the scoundrel has returned, demanding to consummate their union, but Emily has no intention of honoring her “husband,” no matter how irresistible his caresses.   When he sought asylum from the horrors of the French Revolution in England, Leon Devereux’s unruly ways earned him the contempt of the haute ton. Yet his heart belonged only to Emily, whose reputation he was forced to protect by marrying her when she was barely more than a girl. But now, Emily has blossomed into a woman who makes Leon hunger for a love he’s never known—a love he’ll show her if only she’d let him.   “I would recommend this book very highly to anyone looking for a romance with a good mystery and intriguing sub-plots.” —All About Romance
