Entertaining word problems that let verbal types master the language of math!

Math is a universal language, but it’s also the least understood and most undervalued subject taught in school. Two Trains Leave Paris: Number Problems for Word People offers an opportunity to experience math like never before.

You must use the Pythagorean Theorem to figure out how far apart two ex-lovers are when they simultaneously realize that they cannot live without each other. You must use addition (and logic) to explore the ridiculous (and patriarchal!) wage gap. Throughout six math-themed chapters, readers will follow a series of characters as they apply for jobs, fall in love, get abducted by aliens, and experience many of life’s other big and small moments, all of which are dictated by—you guessed it—math!

With the help of humor, mathematical history, and how-to-solve sections, Two Trains Leave Paris asks readers to help its characters find growth in the most unexpected of places: word problems. And the answers are, of course, in the back.

Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) is the most commonly diagnosed birth abnormality in the US. With great advances in surgery and medicine, however, survival rates have improved by 75% since the 1940s. With better medical care, babies born today with CHD have a good chance of surviving, but throughout their entire lives they can face surgeries, invasive treatments, lifelong monitoring, frequent medical check-ups, and significant limitations on physical activity, in addition to poor public awareness. Much attention has rightly been focused on providing their parents and caretakers with resources and information.Little attention, however, has been paid to the psychosocial impacts on these individuals, especially as they grow, mature, and become adults living with a serious, chronic medical condition. Prevalence rates for anxiety, depression, and PTSD are significantly higher (2-3x in some cases) for people living with CHD than the general adult population. Liza Morton and Tracy Livecchi are both mental health professionals who have developed a specialty in working with clients who have chronic medical conditions, and they are both themselves living with CHD. While their powerful personal stories are woven into the narrative, the book is focused on providing evidence-based coping and self-care skills for adults living with CHD.

The United States spends far more money on health care than any other country, and yet nearly 50,000,000 Americans are uninsured at least part of the time each year.Health Care Reform Now! is written for anyone who cares enough about our health care situation to consider serious alternatives to the current system. In this book George Halvorson - an internationally known health care leader and author - offers a sensible approach to health care reform and universal coverage that can work for all stakeholders.Step by step, George Halvorson outlines a game plan to create a truly world-class health care system that will appeal to policy makers on both ends of the political spectrum and will deliver health care with improved quality, better access, provider accountability, performance transparency, consumer choice, and individual empowerment. As readable as it is instructive, Health Care Reform Now! proposes a practical model that solves the unsolvable by identifying specific areas where health care performance improvement can create better outcomes, better choices, and far better use of the health care dollar. Halvorson also explains why "reform" itself needs to be a "product" rather than just a concept. He explains why quick action is essential and how using the right tools - the focus on real costs and the use of real data and better caregiver support systems - can make universal coverage easy to administer, efficient, affordable, and "free" in three years compared to what the total cost of care would be without universal coverage.

The first biography of a pioneering scientist who made significant contributions to our understanding of dark matter and championed the advancement of women in science. In Vera Rubin: A Life, prolific science writers Jacqueline Mitton and Simon Mitton provide a detailed, accessible overview of Rubin's work, showing how she leveraged immense curiosity, profound intelligence, and novel technologies to help transform our understanding of the cosmos. But Rubin's impact was not limited to her contributions to scientific knowledge. She also helped to transform scientific practice by promoting the careers of women researchers. Not content to be an inspiration, Rubin was a mentor and a champion. She advocated for hiring women faculty, inviting women speakers to major conferences, and honoring women with awards that were historically the exclusive province of men.Rubin's papers and correspondence yield vivid insights into her life and work, as she faced down gender discrimination and met the demands of family and research throughout a long and influential career. Deftly written, with both scientific experts and general readers in mind, Vera Rubin is a portrait of a woman with insatiable curiosity about the universe who never stopped asking questions and encouraging other women to do the same.

Video Marketing Lead: Essential Guide for Beginners on Video Marketing and Social Media, Discover the Secrets to Using Videos to Reach Massive AudienceVideo content has been proven to be the most effective of the majority of other forms of online content. When watching a video, customers are more likely to remember the video than they are to remember written content or an image, for example. Because of this, marketing videos tend to have a much bigger impact on potential new customers as opposed to a marketing banner, for example.Video can be an extremely powerful medium when it comes to connecting with and communicating with your audience. Many businesses have found that the use of video allows them to better present their brand ‘voice’ and image in a way that customers will be able to relate to personally. One of the most popular types of video content is marketing content, where you will come up with a short movie that convinces customers to express interest in your brand. Some marketing videos may focus on the brand as a whole, whilst others may focus on a particular product or service. You may use actors, animations, or something else in order to put together a marketing video.Every business which has an online presence should use video content in some form or another. With video now being more and more accessible, even the smallest of businesses with the tightest of budgets can afford to use video content to some extent, even if it is just Snapchat stories or Facebook Live videos. If you’re not yet using video content for your marketing strategy, you should definitely change things starting now because even the smallest of businesses are benefiting from it now.
