Summary

In The Cycle of Five, silent nights, author Ashika P skillfully portrays characters who endure incredible challenges in life. It is a story brimming with the essence of family, the vitality of relationships and the despair of betrayal.
A seemingly idyllic setting, where family values are strong and where hard work is rewarded with success, money, the comforts of life and happiness. Where cigar smoking is de rigeur and where laughter and frivolity paint a picture of domestic bliss. But the trappings of wealth give rise to a dark undercurrent that soon threatens this family idyll. Before long the joy of life turns sinister, where a living hell replaces laughter and love, and where the sordid underbelly of life overwhelms and threatens to totally crush the loving home so carefully and conscientiously nurtured by Jody, the kindly matriarch This change of fortunes, accelerated by uncontrolled infatuation and in˜ delity, results in a gripping, suspenseful drama where endurance and sacrifice is the only way forward. The bouquets of false hopes, the cover-ups and the almost pathological denial of wrong-doing is heartbreakingly tempered by Jody’s undying hope and love. The Cycle of Five, silent nights pulls no punches, and despite the incredibly pain and challenges faced and endured, a slender thread of hope, fragile yet powerful, is what sustains the family and captivates the reader.

Inside A Lover's Heart There's Another World, And Yet AnotherRumi's masterpieces have inspired countless people throughout the centuries, and Coleman Barks's exquisite renderings of the thirteenth-century Persian mystic are widely considered the definitive versions for our time. Barks's translations capture the inward exploration and intensity that characterize Rumi's poetry, making this unique voice of mysticism and desire contemporary while remaining true to the original poems. In this volume readers will encounter the essence of Sufism's insights into the experience of divine love, wisdom, and the nature of both humanity and God.While Barks's stamp on this collection is clear, it is Rumi's voice that leaps off these pages with a rapturous power that leaves readers breathless. These poems express our deepest yearning for the transcendent connection with the source of the divine: there are passionate outbursts about the torment of longing for the beloved and the sweet delight that comes from union; stories of sexual adventures and of loss; poems of love and fury, sadness and joy; and quiet truths about the beauty and variety of human emotion. For Rumi, soul and body and emotion are not separate but are rather part of the great mystery of mortal life, a riddle whose solution is love. Above all else, Rumi's poetry exposes us to the delight that comes from being fully alive, urging us always to put aside our fears and take the risk of discovering our core self:No one knows what makes the soul wake up so happy! Maybe a dawn breeze has blown the veil from the face of God.These fresh, original translations magnificently convey Rumi's insights into the human heart and its longings with his signature passion and daring, focusing on the ecstatic experience of the inseparability of human and divine love. The match between Rumi's sublime poetry and Coleman Barks's poetic art are unequaled, and here this artistic union is raised to new heights.

It's 1968. David is twenty. It is the height of the worldwide student revolt. The Vietnam war rages. Enoch Powell delivers his 'Rivers of Blood' speech. Martin Luther King is assassinated. These events will define David's politics and give focus to his writing.
It's fifty years on. The seventy-year-old is confronted by the twenty-year old. Do they share the same beliefs? If not, is it the world that's changed, or him?
David Edgar's Trying It On is an autobiographical monologue, written to be performed by its author.
It was first presented by Warwick Arts Centre and China Plate, touring the UK in 2018, including performances at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, the Midlands Arts Centre and at the Royal Court Theatre, London – as well as at the Royal Shakespeare Company, alongside the RSC's revival of Edgar's landmark play Maydays.
