Summary

Well-intentioned trouble maker Araminta Spookie has been “helpful” one too many times, so her family decides to send her to boarding school. On arrival, Araminta is surprised to discover that Gargoyle Hall makes her haunted home seem positively cozy. Strange moans and clanks echo down the halls and the two class leaders are equally creepy. Most of the other students have been scared away, but Araminta is determined to find out what-or who-is menacing the school.

“Lynn Sheffield Simmons hits another home run in storytelling with her latest book Bo and the Night Intruder.” —Pete Incaviglia Bo’s undisciplined mischief has landed him and his owner, Mrs. Barnett, in the vet’s office—twice. Now in a splint and a special funnel-shaped collar, Bo is finally learning obedience. He even helps a new restaurant owner, the famous baseball player Pete Incaviglia, discover who has been breaking in and destroying the kitchen at night. This is not the first time Bo’s accidents and antics have ended up assisting police. In earlier Bo books, such as Bo, the Famous Retriever and Bo and the Missing Dogs, this bright and reliable labrador retriever manages to find clues in the most unlikely ways. In this adventure, Bo uncovers local importation of illegal aliens and saves a restaurant—and its valuable sports memorabilia—from destruction.

A junior high student is on the run from men in black with a scary science experiment in his backpack in this exciting adventure. Jeremy’s troubles begin when his eccentric neighbor leaves him an “experiment” for safekeeping—a jackalope! This so-called mythological creature looks like a bunny rabbit but comes with razor-sharp antlers and is purported to be a ruthless killer. When government agents show up at Jeremy's house seeking the jackalope for their own nefarious purposes, Jeremy must find a way to protect the jackalope, and himself. So, he reluctantly joins forces with Agatha, his holier-than-thou genius neighbor. Together, with the jackalope (and his weapons-grade antlers) tucked away in a backpack, they have only one chance to save Jack and still get their science fair projects in on time . . . With her striking sense of humor, Emily Ecton has created a hilarious and suspenseful adventure, complete with a compelling and unforgettable cast of characters. Praise for Project Jackalope “A very satisfying thriller. . . . Readers will . . . be eager for a sequel.” —Kirkus Reviews“Will keep readers smiling to the very end.” —School Library Journal
