Summary
DESCRIPTION: A Family’s Taboos - When a new generation comes along, all things are possible. Continuing the family name. Building a dynasty. New avenues of love and seduction are found. Every generation maintains the bridge between the past and future. And when a family’s secret is introduced, can it solidify the joining of each generation to the next? It can if it’s incest. EXCERPT: On the ride back to the ranch, Elizabeth grinned at her daughter. “You accomplished a lot today, Sarah.” “Yep. I got the right girl lined up for Randolph, and with the marriage, I lock up land I’ve had my eye on for ten years. I’d call it a good day, mom.” “It’s a good thing I want Lily for my wife, mom. How’d you know I liked Lily?” “It’s in your eyes every time we bump into her in town.” “I hope she doesn’t mind the incest when she finds out.” “She’ll come around. This is the west. People are more tolerant.” Suddenly, her horse reared, and unprepared, Sarah fell to the ground. She heard unmistakable rattles and froze. Randolph yelled, “Don’t move, mom.” She held still as he fired his pistol, the loud retort tormenting her eardrums. Her nerves calm, she looked up. “Get it, son?” “Yep. Blew the rattlesnake’s head off.” “What my grandson isn’t telling you, daughter, is he shot the snake in mid-strike. The bullet hit the dead-center of its mouth.” “The pistol practice paid off.” Sarah hopped up, brushed the dust from her clothes, and, climbing on her horse, looked at Elizabeth. “Tell Daniel or daddy about this, I’ll be pissed. That goes for you too, son.” “My lips are sealed, mom.” A sly grin crossed Elizabeth’s face. “Tell you what, daughter. Let me borrow my son tonight, I’ll keep quiet.”
