Hal E-looya
I was born in 1925. As a tot, I grew up in the Rockaways, Jamaica Bay, separating me from Kennedy Airport. I became a marble champ before moving to Brooklyn. In high school I learned the skills of machinist.
I was drafted in 1943. Until 1946, I served in the Navy, and the machinist training helped me with my duties aboard ship. While attending a ship’s reunion, I penned a poem entitled “The John M. Bermingham D.E. 530.” That poem became a hit. I continued to phrase words, and I am still at it....
